To assess the progress that has been made in implementing the Global strategy on ageing and health (2016-2030), its first action plan (2016-2020), and its new action plan, the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021-2030), WHO currently collects data on 10 quantifiable indicators from each Member State.
This information was used to inform a mid-term progress report on the first action plan that was presented at the Seventy-first World Health Assembly in May 2018, as requested by WHO’s Member States. It is also used to inform the baseline for the Decade of Healthy Ageing, as endorsed by WHO’s Member States by the Seventy-third World Health Assembly in August 2020.
This page contains information on these 10 progress indicators by WHO region from 2018 and 2020.
