Maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and ageing
Data portal
Supposed you have been asked to develop a monitoring framework and/or plan to monitor progress in health for either women, newborns, children, adolescents or older persons and you needed to know what indicators are already used, from what data sources they can be obtained, whether they have been validated and how do you calculate them. You can search this Toolkit and find the answers to all these questions.
The indicators were mapped across Strategic Development Goal indicators, many key global health initiatives and to indicators used by many partners, donors and other Unite Nations agencies and prioritized based on the advice of World Health Organization measurement advisory groups. Recommendations from these groups are used to guide improvements of metrics, prioritize indicators to be used for monitoring of the health of the respective age groups and, ultimately, to improve health outcomes. Below is a link to each advisory group where you can find more information.
You will see the name of the indicator, how it is calculated, what is the recommended data source and whether it has been validated. For many indicators you can also download an indicator reference sheet that contains this information.
Below is a list of global monitoring frameworks and monitoring guidance that you may find useful but may require adaptation at the national, and local levels.
